New Project: The Iupi Survival Guide

To give this blog a breath of life, I'm writing a survival guide to my campus. A nice recollection of all my experiences there and why I don't regret a single minute of it. Each post will be in Spanish (because I plan on publishing it later here in Puerto Rico) then translated in English. I plan on covering all the bases here, from before class starts to graduation, and that includes everything. Note that:

A) THIS IS NOT BY ANYWAY SANCTIONED BY THE UPR ADMINISTRATION OR AFFLIATES. This is merely a retelling of all tricks one picks up along the way.
B) THERE WILL BE CURSING. A LOT. You will understand why.

Wow, since October. Goddamn. Tumblr is one hell of a drug.

All the updates are either there, Plurk, or Twitter. But I am le pissed at Twitter for shutting down Twidroid on my eReader. I'm missing it already. Dammit.

Updates:

* Passed the last semester with flying As. I haven't seen something so glorious since my first year.

* I finally filled out my graduation form. I am officially graduating in May/June/WHENEVER.

* I've reached a point of my life that I can achieve balance between classes, social life (friends, parties, MOVIES), entertainment (drawing, writing, rp-ing,)

* Still don't have a job but I keep on looking~

* Still able to apply to Law School! Will do so before March 25!

And the last 2 months have been possibly the most miserable in the last few years. I have a freaking F on Audit, it's been one month since my uncle's death, and I can't find a job. Then I had another car accident because it slid down a slippery road. What pisses me off is how fast my step-grandmother started badmouthing me to my other grandmother. I realized something: somehow in the last 4 years, I became my little's sisters' babysitter, tutor, and driver. I did it all out of being a good daughter and as favor to severely overworked parents. But something happens and, no matter what it is...it becomes my fault. Fuck this, I'm 21 credits away from graduating; I don't need this.

I'm just really scared that I won't graduate and get into the law school I want because I fucked up in one miserable class. I'm already an expense to my parents, I lost family members, my car and now this on my last fucking year. I know life goes on but GODDAMN I NEED TO BREAK SOME PLATES.

Ever had your body just sleep on you while your body's still awake? Yeah that happened this Tuesday while I was pulling my last Business English report out of my ass. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with me? I still have a MORNING (because 10 am is still morning for me with a side of lunch) mentality and then my body decides "Fuck that, we're watching the Adult Swim reruns and maybe even catch Married with Children at 5am just to be safe...Better yet! Don't sleep at all! And while you're at it, drive 25 minutes to college and pretend I don't weigh 12 tons when you get to the class..."

...I have a comically adversarial relationship with the sleep part of my hypothalamus. Most notably during ANY break from class.

I cannot stress this enough, after two years of surviving accounting classes (excluding the basics I took on 1st year) Next semester is just gravy, leaving me more time to sleep, less hair to pull out, and more time for whatever...

As of Monday, June 21, 2010, the nearly 60-day system-wide strike of the University of Puerto Rico has come to an official close, and Dia is cautiously happy. So why am I cautiously happy? Various reasons listed here:

01. The administration, particularly the President of Trustees (Presidenta de Sindicos) has acted in such a manner that makes people perceive she is a sore loser. The conditions imposed by her had no standing or favor with students, parents and professors (100% Credit Price increase, the possibility of criminal charges against the students participating, ect).

02. The dates chosen to resume classes. My twin's campus is the host for the Central American Games so there might be an inconsistency in resuming their finals. Meanwhile, I'll be back in class on July 5 so here's me enjoying the last of this break. On the plus side, there's a chance I can recover my Audit (CONT4017) grade and finals and [DRUMROLL PLEZ] I don't have to wake up early!

03. Not related to the Strike directly (or is it?), Shawn's body will be updated and the arc hopefully before Psych resumes their 5th Season (Yay!) Still, as much fun as drawing the strip is, it's an exhausting labor of love and thank you guys for being so damn patient!

01. HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, 53 DAY ALL CAMPUS UPR STRIKE... But it's almost done and it's back to class...for two weeks :|||||
02. LSAT is done! That was excruciating 6 HOURS of test sections and fuck my life, I hope I get more than 150 to get into UPR Law School.
03. Who got a BlackBerry ~~after 3 years of prodding and bitching~~?
04. Yes, I have too much time to waste but I almost found a job selling knives to bored housewives....Yeah, that's accessory to involuntary penile removal. Shawn's body will be updated soon enough!
05. Summer cleaning...I think an old shirt of mine became an ecosystem...
06. Good news everyone, my braces are off! Bad news, my doctor wants me to get my nose operated T^T This is my grandmother's nose okay? And it worked great for her! Rest in peace Abuela Grace.
07. I have found myself between flirting with guys and keeping them away with a 6-ft pole...reasons? I didn't know how much I missed the single life.

Well, that's a pretty good summary to my life for the last 6 months and here's hoping for less drama and more fun!

Yep, using a bastardized Andrew Ryan quote to start off an update to this blog. Currently, there is a massive system wide strike in the University of Puerto Rico due to various reason, but mostly due to student and academia unrest regarding the following:

Massive budget cuts onto the operating budget of the system
The possible elimination of certain 'exenciones' or student breaks for students in Athleticism, Arts and raising the minimum GPA for Honor.
Violations to the employee-employer agreements between the Central Administration and the Professors and non-academia Employees.

For anyone reading this, please keep informed. I may not have voted in the assembly but I am pro the strike because some of the planned reductions hinder the development of students.

December wrap-up

I don't know which is sadder, me stuck studying for finals or me remembering the Barney theme song? Don't answer that.

With the final tally of college: 4 me: 1, I am currently studying my ass off to try and salvage this semester with at least one A in English Literature and a B on Business Law (Me mangó el Evangelio según Changó! is the best way to summarize why I got a D on the last test) and Federal Tax (I need a B or more on the final, easier said than done). Ever get that feeling that you study so hard and when you get to the test, you just kill it and when it comes back you get a D/F? If you have, congrats, we're on the same page, unknown reader.

Maybe I was distracted too much by other things that weren't academically related, creepy-guy in REHU group, not enough balance between studying-sleeping-drawing comics, PARO/STRIKE, just putting it out there. But fuck it.

TV season review (SPOILERS BE HERE):

House: Just plain awesome. My favorite episodes overall were the season openers Broken and Wilson. Least favorite parts where the Huddy-Lucas thing (Lucas is a great character, don't ruin him) and the self-righteous speech Cameron gave before leaving (You are just as broken and tainted as Chase, STFU)

CSI: Miami: Um, mixed feelings in this fall season (that hasn't concluded, mind you). Plus sides: there is a breath of humor in the show plus more CSI-ing than drama (Horatio+Lab Equipment=Love), Jesse seems very normal-ish (ie not so Gary Stu) but that is subject to change. Minus side: Calleigh & Delko, more specifically the way she's flirting with Cardozza...even though she's in a relationship with Eric. This woman is jumping on men like some dumb broad with a blood bag on one hand and Alpo Bites in the other <---wow, this is the 2nd time I've compared her to Twilight, that's not good. I meant to put in a David Caruso joke here but damn.

Fringe: I love this show. Period. I missed a couple of episodes by watching The Jeff Dunham Show (only skits I actually like are Walter's and Achmed's).

Last Sunday and Monday, watched SyFy's Alice and I found it very enthralling. Maybe I'm biased because I enjoy Alice in Wonderland a little too much. Kathy Bates as the Queen was deliciously evil, the Hatter was a fine mess, and Charlie the White Knight was just plain insane and awesome.

Of the last few weeks

Wow, I haven't blogged in a while! Maybe because I get distracted way too easily buy hey, at least I'm returning to my old (good) habits.

College has been a mess of works, tests and other stuff that I can only vaguely remember. The protests were postponed, I was able to get some of my courses for the next semester (spoiler alert: it will kill me X_X) and I am practically finished with that bothersome REHU 4405 project.

Speaking of which, I don't know which is worse: the project itself or the asshole I was stuck working with. Not only getting too comfy with me (tried to sneak a peek into my computer so I showed him the goriest scenes of Silent Hill 3 and other 'delightful' images) but he hasn't handed in his part even though I told him I wanted the written project done by this Saturday. I never thought I would say this to another human being since being in college but MY GOD, GET A CLUE AND ROT FOR ALL I CARE, DUMBASS /capsrape. The way he acts gives me the creeps and I can't trust to be anywhere too solitary with him. If he finds this, I frankly do not care. I can work well with group projects but he crossed the line a while back and no thanks and GTFO.

Done with that rant. Comp has been giving me hiccups so gonna get that fixed soon enough.

Week 11//Procrastination at its finest

Not much to say about last week other than what has been said in the news...really uncertain if there will be any special circumstances for this week (like another strike) but for now, I need to worry about the following:

*Long-overdue work on the Human Resources group project. This thing has been dragging because, honestly, I don't feel like working on it mainly because I feel uncomfortable with the group dynamics

*Readings that I've postponed...yeah, they're biting me in the ass.

I get distracted incredibly easy and for now, I tend to not do what I'm supposed to do.

Week 9 & 10//

Why two weeks in a row? Three words: Week-Long Strike. To express the disgust towards what is referred to as Ley 7 (where almost 17,000 government agency workers were fired among other effects) and to avoid unnecessary student violence, the interim president of the UPR system has decreed a week-long recess for all 11 campus in the system.

TL; DR: I have a free week at the cost of spending Christmas Eve in finals.

I can honestly say that last week was a blurr: all I could remember was getting the grades for my tests (all B's) but at least I got stuff done with the REHU 4405 project (suddenly I got appointed leader LOL)

Art/Fiction wise, I've been kind of dead lately besides Shawn's Body (which I use as a stress relief) but at least I have the following ideas for Promise: Return to Silent Hill: Taking advantage of House's trip to Mayfield hospital at the beginning of this season, I want to explore how he dealt with the memories of the Incident while Wilson's stuck in Silent Hill...that town tends to bring up the worst in people.

Fan rambling aside, here's hoping that I can finish up any loose ends before returning to class!

Week 8//

This week was a bit wonky thanks to an impromptu strike on my campus last Tuesday...but at least, I finally finished the two tests that have been bothering me for the last three weeks: the FINA 3107 (Markets and Institutions) and DEME 4005 (Business Law) tests...

* The DEME test was thankfully straight to the point, 50 True-or-False questions that's it

* The FINA test was multiple choice but that right there was brutal...it was even harder than the Federal Tax test! Dammit.

On the plus side, this week is relatively quiet with only the REHU 4405 (Intro to Human Resources) test for tomorrow.

Week 7//CSI: Miami Fan Rant

This week was glorious in the fact that I didn't have to wake up @ 5:35 am from Wednesday to Friday thanks to no classes on Wed (Grito de Lares) and the DEME prof not meeting the class on Thursday for review. Still, I had the first two out of five midterm tests (INGL 3251 and CONT 4007). The Literature test went exceedingly well while the Federal Tax one probably ass-raped me...

Now for the bulk of this post:

See that there? That is the current cast of CSI: Miami, right? Good we have that out of the way. Yes, I am a diehard fan but this is not about Lt. Firecrotch ^...

When you hear CSI: Miami, what comes to mind? Lulzy acting, dubious science, bad guys getting pumped full of lead? If so, cookie for you, you got the gist of the show! Granted, it's not Emmy material but the people who watch it enjoy it. If you noticed the list of ideas, you noticed I've left out one word-slash-theme: romance. CSI: Las Vegas and CSI: NY did it nice and easy; there was evidence of the love grown between Gil/Sara and Danny/Lindsay. CSI: M tried their hands at romance twice and here are their results:

*Horatio/Marisol but we didn't see the extent of that relationship until after she died. Her death STILL brings him pain and for two seasons, Horatio might as well changed his named to Dexter With a Gun and a Badge.

*The debacle that is Calleigh/Eric. At the first couple of seasons, I could see this but from 3rd to 6th season, they seemed more of a brother-sister than lovers. Then suddenly POOF! Season 7 came along and they magically hooked up. See the difference? No? Ok, uh can you say "fan-service"?

I love reading TV Guide's Show Recaps from any show (Fringe recaps are hilarious and educational) but I've noticed a trend that does not please me in the least: the teenage fanbrat.
I know because I have to reluctantly acknowledge the fact that I was one for a while. Teenage fans tend to volatile yet treasured by networks because of they compose at least 35% of the TV audience. Yes, romance attracts a lot more viewers than just CSI-ing but abruptly catering that sector can cause disappointment for those who have been with the show for longer. For my part, I tend to enjoy my shows without being forcefed a bland excuse for Twu LUV (actually E/C has no evidence of that either...).

Another thing that arouses Twatlight-RAEG from this show is said fanbrat reaction to Eric Delko's departure. Like any show, actors will leave and do other things for many reasons: they might want to pursue film, the chemistry has run out or they are invited by other networks to work for them. But, dear fanbrat who read this, keep in mind that just because one actor is leaving "OMG TEH SHOWS GOING TO SUCK B/C ERICK AND CALLIE AREN'T TOGETHER!"...yes, I died a little inside writing that travesty. These are the same people who spam other people's fandoms with CAPSRAPE declaring that A/B ARE OTP AND UR SIK AND WRUNG FOR NOT SHIPPING THEM ('shipping is srs bsn, dontcha know?). Don't tell me that because Eric is leaving, the show's over: I saw when Speedle died and when Grissom left. Yes, their ratings slipped but hey, they're still on (if you haven't noticed by now, I'm a Horatio fan so I'm open to get the lulz for it).

TL; DR: Don't turn my forensic show into Twatlight. I mean it. I think I've discussed this before....

Week 6//The Lulz continues...

This week had no picket, no nothing but it still went a whole lot faster (maybe because of the three tests I'm going to take come Monday). Speaking of tests, I frankly have no idea what will happen with the INGL 3251 test; half the stuff wasn't discussed for various reasons (bipolar storm system, professor getting sick, ect). I also stumbled upon a huge roadblock with FINA 3107 (what the fuck was that problem?!) with the whole standard deviation and expected return crap...serves me right for postponing the reviews...

Not much has happened outside of college mainly due to the rainfall and lack of social life. Short post this week, huh?

Week 5//Oh the Irony

Week five has to be one of the shortest in this semester due to:

*Labor Day, which I spent it gloriously asleep and watching the Dirty Jobs marathon,

*The second protest/picket planned for this year, thanks to the HEEND (in which all UPR campus had no class for 24 hours); again, I spent it sleeping and doodling

Overall, I only had 2 1/2 day's worth of class time because of the INGL 3251 professor leaving early for a conference. I spent the weekend slaving away on a REHU 4405 homework that took WAY longer than I planned (I printed it out around 12:45 am last night). Ever have one of those works that just seems to drag on forever? And halfway through it, it gets so boring, you can't help but do something else just to regain any sensation in your brain? Anywho, it's official, my semester will last two more days than expected...dammit.

The other classes are going along smoothly, except maybe the Federal Tax class. I have to ask the professor about how to study for his class at home because powerpoints handouts are great and all but I tend to go more for the textbook to review. Another class I'm having a bit of trouble is Business Law (DEME 4005) mainly because THAT CLASSROOM COULD DOUBLE AS A FUCKING MORGUE. This week, we cover the rest of La Carta de Derechos (the Bill of Rights) in the Puerto Rican Constitution (it's a little more exciting than it sounds like thanks to the current situations these days)

In Internet related news...
Pigeon Beats the Internet FINALLY, one can make use of the assload of pigeons in San Juan...but first, we'd have to give those cute li'l rats with wings a bath.

Week 4//LOLwhut

I tend to write at the end of my weekend and since it's Labor Day, I write today XD

This week started off with a bird taking a dump on MY HEAD. Not joking, this really happened on Monday after lunch, dammit. My parents laughed their asses off when I told them that. Apparently it brings good luck...still waiting on that luck. The rest of the week was jumbled up by two phenomena:

1) Surprise protest on Wednesday, which I found out AFTER I woke up @ 5:35 am then drove to my campus, only to be turned back.

2) Possibly the most bipolar tropical storm in recent history; ladies and gents, I give the goverment fiasco that was Erika. I can honestly say that the news went from "Don't come to class tomorrow, we're going to go hide in a corner with four boxes of water and beer" to "Fuck y'all, that p*ssy didn't do squat, we expect your ass in class tomorrow" in more or less TWO HOURS. I still had to show up to a class to a class where the professor didn't.

After this week, I predict my ass will be cloistered in my room because I have a lot of catching up to do...crap.

Week 3 came and went with not much out of the ordinary other than having to dish out $90 for a graphic calculator...for the love of God, I hope I get to use it in more than ONE class! 'Cause then, I have the right to smash it. Sad part is, the profession that insisted on it...didn't come to the next class (fuck).

Writing Childhood's End got me thinking about Halloween...I have to buy my costume! Hopefully, this year won't rain (as if).

Freeman's Mind This series is AWESOME; I spent the entire weekend watching it and I promptly forgot about to print homework LOL.

Week 2//LOLWhat?!

By week two, all of my professors finally arrived and gave the students the groundwork, i.e. I'm fucked. The only prof I have a problem with is the FINA 3107 who is super insistent on getting the latest edition of the textbook and speaks WAY too fast (I can hear my knuckles crack). The REHU prof sounds really nice and a livewire to boot. The DEME prof is interesting but I have to disagree on his views of external conception, especially in vitro; he sees that as an aberration to nature but I see it as a chance for those couples to have a child...the rest are pretty good.

This weekend I found Rule of Rose on the local Gamestop for $20 so I decided to buy it with gift money my grandmother gave me (ie couldn't find the Coach Sneakers :( ). Long story short, I got my ID asked...Conversation goes as follows;

Store Clerk-Welcome to Gamestop! What'll it be?
Me-Just this *presents game*
SC-Are you 17 or older?
Me-Yep...are you coming on to me? >D
SC-Nope, what's your age?
Me-19
SC-Okay, I need your ID to verify.
Me-Say what? *deer in headlights* Ok...let me *looks in backpack and realizes she left her wallet in the backseat of her car from buying gas* HOLY SHIT! HOLD MY BAG! *goes running to the far side of the parking lot and returns*

SC-Dude, where did you park?!

Turns out the storeclerk's from Rio Piedras...go fig. They said there was an opening for Christmas vacation so I'll be sending in my resume soon! I REALLY want to work there because it's close to home and I can wake up late and still get there on time.

Anyways, I hope to add a lineart/sketches section to my site since most of the work I have is just that until at least 70% of my classwork is done for the month.

Enough blogging; time for me to go back to reading INGL 3251 materials (Quiz tomorrow)!

First days back!

And they had their bumps along the road...

First day : I got the first week jitters the night before meaning my eyes decided to get droopy around 2:30 am only to wake up 3 hours later. For some reason, I threw up. Luckily I got to sleep for two more hours in my car until ten minutes before class. The 8:30 am Federal Taxation sclass professor didn't show up but at least I'm not alone in my suffering. The rest of the classes went about smooth (time to buy/rent books).

Today, the morning class didn't come again...so yeah...little miffed. I forgot to bring my netbook so I was bored senseless for most of the day. Got to sell some of my old books (yay!) and found friends that could help me with the others. Random note to self, get parking sticker.

Last Days of Summer

Only 3 1/2 days of summer left T^T...

Fuck it, I was getting bored anyways. Like the glaring reminder that is the Clock Tower, my summer vacation is over and unlike the last one, I feel like I did more growing up. That, and I'm never taking another summer class for the remainder of my Bachelor's degree. Gotta get back to sleeping early because even though I start later (8 am Mon-Thu), the 1 1/2 hours of traffic jam is just too much for me and I'd get there late anyways...time for me and my Optimus Prime blanket to get reacquainted with sleeping in the car.

Dear God, I love this game...but Jesus Christ, the difficulty curve likes to be a bitch! Is it mean to cheer when (SPOILER) Maria gets killed by Pyramid Head?(/SPOILER)...I thought so. During the last few days of vacation me and Grace have been playing this and Resident Evil 4 (actually my cousin and me played that one alternating).

Creatively, I've been languishing for a bit with no reason in the art department but not so much in the written.

Trip to Bacardi

My mom and my aunt decided to do a trip to the Casa Bacardi Rum Factory tour and at the last minute, I got dressed and hopped in the car.

I heard about this tour due to people choosing it as their company for the ADMI group project (my study/group partner for CONT 4125 had that one), so I've been wanting to see it for a while. The tour was nice, short and with air conditioning so yeah, it was a nice break from the mall/movie theater. They let you sample some of their drinks so yeah...anyways, it was a learning experience and I recommend it to everyone!

Besides that, tomorrow is my cousin's birthday so beach time!

Update: My microcomputer's A/C charger cable got tangled up in my legs and it fell...topside and closed but it seems ok (everything's running all right). I hate my luck sometimes.

Main Site Up!

My Main Site is up and running thanks to my sister! Hopefully, I'll be able to maintain it with minimal help (snowball's chance in hell, LOL). The link is on the top left corner of this blog so go ahead and visit it!

Life news, not much has happened. My boyfriend and I mutually decided be just friends again to due to circumstances we both have to fix (explaining my slight depression and lack of blog updates). Other than that, my uncle from my mother's side and his family came over last night but everyone was experiencing the Temperature change cold (Germany=79°, PR=89° with 65% humidity) so we mostly stayed home.

Well, that's it for today! Tomorrow, I'll be visiting my campus to sort out some matters before I have to drive Grace to Mayawest on the 31st.

Another summer wasted on the stupid, summer class edition..I GOT AN A!!! I will have a happy. My aunt keeps making a big fuss over why I'm not getting as good grades in my Accounting classes as I do in my other Business Admin courses (Marketing was fun)...she says I'm in the wrong Bachelor's degree but I actually do like accounting better than my other classes, minus the lack-o'-sleep those department tests cause me.

This semester will be grueling to me because I signed up for two Accounting classes (Advanced along with Federal Taxation) along with Finances part 1. In other words, today I realized what kind of mistake I made. But getting that A just lifted my spirits so much 'cause I really expected a B because of the final test.

Lately, I've been experiencing headaches that go between slight to moderate (i.e. can't really lift myself from my bed). Maybe I've been sleeping in too much and that's taken a toll on my normal sleep patterns. Me sleeping @ 3 am to 4 am is something I should change, especially considering that August is not that far away. Today I spent the whole day cleaning my room and my sister's so yeah, very tired.

This week I spent it in my sister's new apartment (err...maybe that's an overstatement...) over @ Mayaguez and during my stay I watched Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs...

HOW AWESOME IS THIS FUCKING MOVIE?! I'll tell you with the following reasons:
1. Optimus Prime at his best along with NEST
2. Will and Epps banter (LOL)
3. Sam's mom getting high off pot brownies
4. Better dialog with the Autobots and Decepticons (I saw the original Megatron)
5. FIGHT SEQUENCES FTFW

The only complaint I have is that they tried to stuff way too much in a very constraint amount of time (No, I didn't mind the 2 1/2 hours). Overall, 5/5 stars!

The baby storyline wore thin on me so i just focused on the rest of the movie. The Scrat sequences were just as funny as ever, the rivalry between the T-Rex momma and Sid was pretty funny and Buck was a welcome addition. I'd give it 3 1/2 stars out of five.

In other news, my friend's baby was born the same day I came to Mayawest so I has a happy!!!

During my stay, my sister and her boyfriend revived my hatred of Twilight. I actually tried reading the book then stopped 'cause I needed the neurons for actual thought. I did enjoy the fact that the vampire-human baby ate thru Bella's innards then...you know what, look up the SparkNotes.

In other college news, I finally finished that damn 15-page group essay but this would be the second time a group assignment turns so sour. Parts handed in late, copy-pasting in one instance and complete disregard of what a "GROUP" is are pretty much the phrases I would use to describe the experience. Thank God the classes are almost over but the final exam is composed of 6 chapters that are flying by. Won't probably post until after that stupid test...I'm boned.

This movie is BEAUTIFUL, period. Anyone who hasn't seen it is missing out on a very touching and hilarious masterpiece. I beg to differ from my sister, Up isn't better than Wall-E, they're from the same genius cloth. Both have their shining moment and they shouldn't be compared against each other. The story was enthralling, the attention to detail was incredible and overall, this one goes with the quirky robot in my 5-star list along with and March of the Penguins and The Dark Knight.

In college news, I got an 87 on Friday's test! Pulled that one out of my ass XD, now it's on for the group investigation essay and then the final test and this class is done! Whoo!

Better skedaddle before said project swamps me!

CONT 4125 update//Thoughts

Posting this real quick before I start with my section of the final investigation of this class. Got an 88 in the first test but I personally don't expect such a grade to repeat itself, which brings me to my latest train of thought...

I actually enjoy Accounting (*insert loser/nerd joke here*) and how it plays out in my life. My goal in life is to become a lawyer, specializing in Corporate and Labor law so that's main reason I picked to finish that Bachelor's degree. But lately I've noticed a trend with me: I study for at least a week-and-half and get a C while some of my friends study two days before the test and get a B. That kinda brings me down but then I remember my goals and I keep going. My solution (which I'm trying to put to practice) is to think of my Accounting classes as if they were my science classes.

In tv/movie reviews, I watched Royal Pains and found it pretty entertaining to boot. It reminds me a bit of Psych but it has its own flair. The rich people presented are snooty enough that I would run over them if I had the chance, the medicine rivals that of House but seems slightly more plausible (There, I said it.) and the characters are quirky to their own right, ranging from realistically moral (Hank) to comic-relief (Evan). Sorry, couldn't find a cover shot to post.

PETA should ease up on the whole Obama swatting a fly thing. FLIES ARE DECOMPOSING ANIMALS THAT RUINED YOUR TOFU-HAM SANDWCH. Normal people kill them every day. Where that fly was killed, 100 more will take its place (which begs the question whether genetically altering them to gain the capacity of thought is the best course of action). Republicans can know say that we now have a ninja for a president, which by the way is awesome.

Moviewise, I have two upcoming feature films, Up and of course Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen...

My sister (blog here) told me that it was better than Wall-E...holy fuck. I saw Wall-E twice when it was in theaters and I've been saving up to buy it on DVD. Love it or hate it, you gotta admit Pixar has made incredible movies as of late: great storylines, beautiful animations and characters that you'll remember.

WHAT THE FUCK WAS I THINKING?????!!!!!!

Not even 10 minutes into the class and the professor slams the due dates of the final investigation! Ok fine, I was kinda asking for it when I signed up for the class but jeez! To add to the pseudo-drama, my friend never got class textbook back so I kinda have to buy it now and that there costs $150+ so...I'm getting it used. If it were up to me, I'd be buying all my books from Amazon but shipping here sucks ass cuz Amazon doesn't make deliveries to Puerto Rico per se. Here's hoping a friend of mine (who's also taking the class) can get me a contact for the book.

Saturday was a fun day because I met up with my first boyfriend and now one of my best friends in the world and his girlfriend over at Borders. I tackled him almost to the ground (I meant to jump him but that works too). It's been so long since I've seen him...and he hasn't changed in the least bit. His girl is pretty nice and quirky, just a little loud.

Sounds a little pretentious but hopefully I'll be able to put up this along with my devART page and others!

Besides this, I'm just a bit miffed by the newest Archie comic development...I
just want to know why Archie picked Veronica over Betty. I stopped reading the comics for a couple of years because they didn't catch my attention but this new event is just way out of whack. Why pick the nice, stable girl over the spoiled heiress? Unless something substantial developed in the last three years, Archie is reflecting the current trend of marrying into money (knowing fully well that Veronica's dad isn't his number one fan).

Anywho, this week's movie review is the one movie that scarred me for life with a crippling fear of an animal that's been dead for over 65 million years...

I watched this movie when I was four years old and I wet my pants. I still have nightmares of Tyrranosaurus rex coming into my room and eating me (and I'm hitting 20 this November). Regardless of Ornithoscelidaphobia (fear of dinosaurs), this movie is pretty good. My only irk is the "Lexi" character...no offense to Michael Critchton or Steven Spielburg, but that is one one-dimensional character. The best sequences in my opinion are the ones with the T. rex and the Velociraptor (now Utahraptor). Overall, three stars out of five but not because of my phobia XD

Today's interview went so-so, got chicken-shit nervous when I was answering the questions. Lately, I've been really bored except for playing Resident Evil 4 whenever my boyfriend comes over (I'd be killing that stupid bitch Ashley every other minute if it were for me). Haven't been inspired to write or draw even though I can use my old computer to draw again.

I do hope to get a summer job or at last a part-time next semester to help out a bit so I can buy an Xbox 360.

There's really nothing left to blog about until next week when I start summer classes (O3O).

Weekend Movie Review!

This week I saw two movies in their entirety: Session 9 and Angels & Demons...

I saw this one on YouTube (someone out there actually has this movie up in there) and you have to give it props, it is a damn good horror movie. It starts a bit on the slow side but once the film gets to Wednesday, shit goes down. The atmosphere is downright creepy to say the least but the real hook comes in when the correlation between what is happening to the guys and Mary's Session tapes begins to take place. Everyone was cast right but I especially enjoyed the last thirty minutes of the film when SPOILER ALERT: Gordon and Phil (Peter Mullen and David Caruso respectively) become completely unhinged. If you like Silent Hill, you will enjoy this movie so much more because it feels like a competent adaptation of the game in another medium. Even the music sounds like a homage to the game. Downfall of the movie is also exactly that; I half expected Pyramid Head to make a scene. I did this but I was able to switch out the movie music and sort of replace it with the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack and it was all around the same experience.

Overall, I'd give this movie a solid 4 out of five but good luck finding this little jewel in other than the Internet. Here's the playlist I watched it from and don't go telling him/her to put it down, that person's doing you a favor.

Another movie who gets a 4/5 but for entirely different reasons. In my opinion, Angels & Demons felt like a better book-to-movie adaptation than Da Vinci Code, evbecause it actually put an equal balance between running and talking. The Robert Langdon in this movie was just as snarky and acrid as he was in the book, as he should be. I was pleasantly surprised with how the Camarlengo character was played out (nice switch) but most of Vittoria's backstory was dropped, which made me a bit sad. Overall, a good action/mystery flick worth spending the cash on.

I went to see this one on Premiere Day with two of my high school friends and it was just awesome! Jenny and I had the same reaction to the scene where Vittoria ripped out the page from the Diagramma (400-year-old paper) which was horror and it was just fun from there on. Lesson learned; when in Premiere Day, ALWAYS GO TO THE 4pm AND 5pm SCREENINGS. They're never that full and the lines aren't that long to go inside.

Well, that's my rant for the day/week; gonna go back to studying for my final Intermediate Accounting test and then hope and pray I get at least a B or a C.

Week of Ups and Downs...

Good news, I already enrolled in all the classes I could and finished the last of my tests before the Accounting department exam. Bad news, I have to wake up at 6 am 'cause now all my classes start at 8 am, giving me a little more sleep time and the fact that I have classes on Friday (granted, it's just one...). The main problem of waking up at 6 am is that by that time, the main road I drive to get to the University is in full traffic so, back to waking up @ 5:30 every day it is.

Saw this...don't judge me XD David Caruso acts good but Nicolas Cage was...creepy to say the least (beefy asthmatic he is not) I wanna see him do an episode where Horatio go completely insane, even if it is just for a moment (like Session 9 nuts). Once again, thank you Mr. Caruso, for making this movie that inspired one of the most disturbing hospital scenes in Silent Hill. Sadly enough, as much as I love Horatio Caine (pretty much the reason I started watching CSI: Miami), the writers are wasting not only his talent but the rest of the cast's as well. The following in my season-in-review:

Eric is reduced to a forlorn puppy who I desperately want to punt (though last night he and Ryan were sniping at each other like the old times) and Calleigh's acting weird...just say it, you're having Eric's baby and be done with it (copy-cat from CSI: NY, I see).
Ryan has improved bounds and Natalia started to not be such an attention-whore.
Horatio's acting like a CSI again (yay!) and I like the whole family arc thing (sorry Julia, time to go)
The whole thing with Dr. Price, SAW IT COMING.

*Saving up for Angels and Demons* hopefully, I'll get to see it this Saturday...even if it is alone. Man, that's depressing.

*Refers to her projects...goddamn accounting sometimes* Must start project today or pay consequences later. I also have a Statistics test that I have barely studied for and the last couple of exams are proof of that. If you're noticing a pattern, it's because there is one: I tend to get EXTREMELY lazy starting from the moment the clock strikes 12:00 on May 1st. Ironic considering this also the moment most professors turn into sadistic a**holes and plop everything they haven't corrected into a stagnating pile of work.

Yes please. The moment I saw how crappy the Da Vinci Code movie (TALKTALKTALK,dead guy,TALKTALK, action, TALKTALKTALKTALKTALKTALKTALK, action, TALKTALKTALKTALK, climax, TALKTALKTALK, the end!), I really hope this one is more loyal to the book (Angels & Demons > Da Vinci Code). Thank you for making it a sequel instead of a prequel. /fan rant.

X-Men Origins Reviews

Squee...got it...now I'm going have to wait until after classes end so I can actually watch it...I'm sad now.

Got to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine (for some reason I just thunk of Silent Hill: Origins) . My review is, out out five stars, 3-and-a-half. Don''t get me wrong, it made me pumped but let's face it, the story got tangled and lost momentum by the time Gambit came in. Loved all the male characters but next time, try not to put a naked Hugh Jackman when you know we're all gonna get hot and bothered (it's always fun when a gay guy squeals of joy). Schreiber's Sabertooth was just as delicious and he was more covered up than a nun half the movie. If I keep this up, I'll spoil the movie.

TL;DR: In action department GOOD, story department MEH.

Anyways, finished the CIBI project...now to GEOP & Accounting...lovely. Plus, two tests along the way for this week and really, I should've expected this since we're now in May.

Movie Update!

Anyways, today was the national Workers' March (La Gran Marcha for those in Puerto Rico) and I STILL HAD CLASS...what the fuck? I had to wake up at 5:35 am just to haul my ass to what was summed to be an 1 1/2 hours of class. Worse off, most of the students and professors didn't even come, making my campus look like a ghost town. And top it off, I had the last CIBI test that just ruined my day until my boyfriend came over.

In other news, by some random train of thought, I thought about kids and then I remembered what three of my college friends said (all in different time frames and situations): "Whatever comes out of you will be a hellspawn". And when the time comes, I plan on it. I even had dreams (now delving into psychotic territory) on separate occasions and I predict my kid will be called into the principal's office a lot from speaking out and cursing like his/her mommy.

Can't wait until everything's done for and I can start vacation for a short break while Summer classes start.

Who dropped panties when she saw this trailer? I did! (Come on, with Hugh Jackman, Liev Schriber, Ryan Reynolds, new-guy-for-Gambit, who wouldn't?)

Who's going to go see it (hopefully) tomorrow? I will! Me and my boyfriend have been saving up money to go see movies this entire summer. The only two movies we're not going to see together is Star Trek (I'm a Star Wars girl though my interest is peaked with the new Capt. Kirk...) and Angels and Demons (because Robert Langdon is my homie and I will always prefer that book over Da Vinci Code any day).

Don't even joke about this one...I will see it. Hate to be a potty-mouth (but if you're reading this, you're kinda asking for it anyways) but doesn't this thing look like a va-yay-yay? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU MICHAEL BAY? When you said that you'd make the Transformers 'more organic', I don't need to be reminded of a baby-hole. I think we've had this discussion before with Megatron's design (don't get me wrong, a giant robot with a small-country's worth of ammunition and a face that suggests the place man has always feared to thread is SCARY). Now, I got you thinking, huh? LOL.

*Got an 86 on my marketing test...I was aiming for higher but beggars can't be choosers.
*Also got a 71 on the Accounting Test...WOOT! Awesome!!!

Got a nice little Statistics tests to send me packing to Mayawest...fucker. Sadly, I have class tomorrow...while the rest of my friends and sister enjoy a class-free Friday.

Anyways, been seeing Fringe religiously for some time now and for fear of JJ Abrams sniping any spolier-revealing watchers, I must refrain from saying anything from this season. Still waiting on House and CSI; Miami...

Addictive little fucker this is...Made me waste my DS's battery twice from me wanting to be each case through. Maya gets a bit annoying but compared to Ema Skye, she's tolerable. I really wish this game were longer or had more cases but it just motivates us all to buy the other two *does not accept the new attorney*

In life news, last Friday was probably the worst day of the semester for the following events:

Show up to the 7 am class (which sucks ass by default on a Friday)
Had to go to the company my GEOP group chose to from 8:30 am to 10 am but the meeting itself dragged on up to 10:45 am which lead to the next event
I had a CIBI test (on DNA and RNA no less) to get to then
The Accounting Department test. Interesting enough, I finished the multiple choice WAY earlier than usual...weird.

That's pretty much it for the week, planning to visit sis in Mayawest this weekend with Shanny but can't find the little idiot.

Internet deprivation is no fun...ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THAT MY SUMMER CLASSES ARE AT STAKES. Well, actually I was fucked from the beginning due to the class that I wanted to sign up for has been full since last week (CONT 4125 orz Cost/Managerial Accounting).

Spent Holy Week with Titi Conchi which was ten times more awesome than getting free pass to the movies. With her, we raided Plaza Carolina, went to Piñones (huge traffic jam due to beachgoers and foodies). This year's Easter Party was amazing; mom and dad got creative with the food and the Easter hats activity. This year, we hid at least 50 eggies all over our now-destroyed front yard. There was also a "mythical" yellow egg for us big kids that was supposed to have $80 but it was a ploy to get us all to clean.

In other College news, still as screwed over as ever due to three tests, one of which is the CONT 4019 (Intermediate Accounting part II) department. Even sadder is the fact that I've been studying since Friday, no thanks to this:
I am just one episode away from finishing the entire season...then saving up to buy the first one...it's a vicious cycle. Psych is way too much fun to just watch one episode so we'd watch 2 to 3 at a time. Jeez Louise, Lassie; take that stick out of your ass (but then we'd have to ask why'd you have such an object in said uncomfy place)

And yes, I actually watched this...and LOL'd. My bad; it wasn't as bad as I thought and secretly hoped it would be (Bulma shooting the crap out of any poor sap was fun) but it could use improvements. I *urk* took this Goku and gave him a free pass. What made it even funnier were two things:

The theater was packed with not just little kids but with girls and fangirls.
Said girls made the most obscene comments ever (cue uncontrollable laughter). Grace knows what she said.

In other DBZ news, watched TeamFourStar's DBZ Abridged...plez to have more y/n? Very quotable.

Anywho, thoroughly enjoying the Acer but is sad because I can't put Photoshop in here without a hard drive (I will get to that next week). My only problem is that now my parents are now obsessing in finding the original Chupi's purchase receipt (which I could not find for the life of mine) so they can give it to my littlest sister. As much as I would love to give her that comp, I simply can't find the receipt.

In TV news, trying to watch Trust Me on TNT (gives me another excuse to watch TV on Tuesdays besides Fringe. ENOUGH WITH THE ERIC/CALLEIGH OVERDOSING! And writers. lay off Ryan, he's had quite enough trouble as it is. I find myself drifting towards CSI: NY and more on House, lol.

I accidentally forgot about Earth Hour last night but I did my part and turned off all my lights by 9pm (I caught on very late in the event).

Like the title says; I'm putting up this post before total annihilation from this week's tests. To start off, Thursday comes in with ECON 3021 and ESTA 3042 (which is just AMAZING how the prof. explains/sarcasm). Then there's the CONT 4019 department test that will probably kill me off. I just got hooked on this show thanks to "Lassie Did A Bad, Bad Thing"...WTF, I thought I gave up crime shows with the CSI trilogy. Watch it and spot the pineapple or else.

Started on a Tuesday so I didn't have to wake up so early...apparently the faculty's system's on the fritz due to an A/C pipe exploding and ruining the entire system...this is going to be one hot semester T^T All my professors were named "blank" on the system but here's the summary:

MERC- the professor is just like my aunt Conchi...down to the jokes and mannerisms; her class is fun
GEOP- Apparently he's an engineer from RUM, the class is ok but it's on that ungodly hour of 7 am
ESTA- I don't know how my friend could get an A with this professor; he talks in a whisper so low that I either go nuts or lull myself to sleep from 1pm to 2:30
CIBI- Got my old professor (the one that let the class cut the cow heart) so yay!
ECON- Seems like the kooky professor you'd learn with and would've spend an assload of time on TelNet to get a spot
CONT- They changed my professor to one I will affectionately call the Banshee. She's a great person but she talks so damn loud and fast

Besides this and the mandatory reading/homeworks, week's been slow...

Anywho, mom and dad decided it'd be a hoot to cut off my supply of Coca Cola, so I'm languishing in soda-less purgatory.

Annie Mae Rant: Code GEASS and Death Note

Lately I've noticed a trend in anime, making me just want to shut my TV off. My best examples of this trend are Code Geass and Death Note.

This used to be one of the few animes I'd actually stay up to watch due to the and I quote, "Psychological aspects of the series"...and that's the praise I'll ever give without going to L-fantard mode. My biggest question is: WHAT THE FUCK? Light/Raito/Faggy-God-Wannabe is a glorified PSYCHOPATH (and not like The Dark Knight's Joker). This jackass was once a young man with his ethics still intact. But once he got a taste of the power of the Death Note, he transformed into a self-righteous prick who decide who was good and who was evil. And don't get me started on Misa, who's degree of mental stability is laughable. She killed innocent people just to get Light's attention. My real issue with DN is the fact that people in Real World Land ACTUALLY COSPLAY AND ADMIRE THESE CHARACTERS. These are people that deserve the fucking chair...which brings me to the next fuck-up of an anime;

Code Geass or as I like to call it Blatant Japanese Nationalism Animation Program is just a plethora of WRONG. This piece of shit has won a billion awards and recognitions but you wanna know what I see? :

a. The characters are cut-outs of anime stereotypes who don't have even a shred of personality (CC is a prime example of a Sue). The character designs themselves are bland and look like a 12-year-old weeabo with a CLAMP and fish-mouth fetish decided to rip Gundam a new one.

b. The supposedly rich dialog is just bullshit after bullshit, redundant and melancholic to the point of lunacy.

c. The Japan-as-a-colony plot is so self-imposing even a person from an actual colony (read, Puerto Rico) can't really relate to it. Another plot point I'd like to point out, Holy Britannian Empire=United States of America? Is this somehow counter-revenge for Pearl Harbor???

The point being is that lately animes these days are sacrificing ethical characters and plot quality for a quick fix. Sure, Dragon Ball Z, Transformers, & Sailor Moon had ridiculous plot and varying animation quality but you'd be a liar to say you didn't enjoy it.

About bodies and reverse aging...//Cover post

Back to posting here. Went to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Bodies: the Exhibition. The movie was epic and beautiful in itself, with the entire cast really outdoing themselves. It also featured a Louisiana that reminded me of Magical Realism that I really enjoy from Gabriel García Marquez.

Bodies: The Exhibit is totally worth the long-ass lines. At first, I was hesitant to go not because the bodies were actual corpses but because it seemed a little humiliating for them. The best were the nervous and reproductive system. I recommend this to anyone, you'll learn a lot and you get to handle a human brain!

Got these noise-canceling earphones as well as Kohl's Goldfish flats...I GOTS MAH FISHY SHOES!

Saw this movie over on YouTube with my twin sister (her computer was on, mine was not) and it was just like the old DBZ I remember staying after school to watch religiously. Even though it was in Japanese, it was still had the same humor and WTF moments that any fan loves. Don't have high hopes for the 2009 FOX/live-action movie...

This is a God-send! It makes the perfect ice cream scoop just by getting it wet! And it's a steal!

WOOOOW... I need help XD Finished up my semester (hopefully with a C in CONT 4018 xP). Regardless, Christmas is almost here so I decided to put up some of the stuff I've colored here...

Random post: Crypt Keeper Plastic Surgery People

Watched CSI: Miami last night...LOL at the prank Ryan and Eric played on the new ME. I really want to see next week's episode but I might run into a snag (due to Daylight Savings Time, the show's on 11 pm and I have to wake up @ 5:30 am to get to class)

I was watching E!'s special on plastic surgery and...HOLY SHIT. Some of those people stopped being human $40,000 ago. I'll admit, I had to get corrective surgery on my facial bones for health reasons but they look like blow-up doll rejects!

I also hate the fact that some girls would rather get their boobs done than get a brand new car...Trust me, after ten years, the car isn't going to sag and make your skin look like cheap leather that's been left out for too long. If you don't know how much the surgery costs and really don't give a crap about its risks, SAY NO TO SILICONE OR SALINE.

I can has cow heart!

I did...it was a three-pound (mind you frozen) cow heart....

It was for Biology class (CIBI 3001) today (it had been postponed due to strike). I was giddy all day, even through what seemed like the most boring CONT 4018 (Intermediate Accounting) class ever (no, not a psychopath, just eager).

The thing was HUGE and slimy due to partly frozen clotted blood, so the professor ordered everyone who would touch it to wear gloves. Throughout my turn, I took pictures and made some off-hand comments... my sister and most of my friends like 'who in their right mind trusted you with an organ?'

At least I have no class tomorrow but better study up on Economics for a test.

Gonna also watch tonight's CSI: Miami so see you

My sister, BunnyQ., finally convinced me to make a Blogger account and I'd like to say that this place is pretty worth it.

In other news (more like most news channels), elections are over...

In Puerto Rico, Fortuño won
In USA, Obama won

I'm not completely conscious right now but I'm satisfied with the results, I'll get back on this one.
